INTRODUCTION


The STEVENAGE LOCOMOTIVE SOCIETY holds meetings on the last Thursday of every month* plus additional 'Xtra' meetings on most fifth Thursdays *(except December - "2nd Thursday") at the 'Community Arts Centre', Roaring Meg Retail Park, Stevenage, Herts. SG1 1XN, starting at 7.45pm (See our meetings page for full location details and forthcoming meetings, plus Xtra meetings).


There is a wide range of interest amongst the membership, including Photography (both digital and traditional forms), Charter Trains (steam, diesel or modern traction), Inter City or Suburban Passenger, Freight Operations, Preservation, Railwayana, Signalling, Time tabling, Video etc. There are also European & International interests. Many of these subjects are regularly covered in our monthly magazine AURORA (free to full members).

yearly membership available from 1st

The Railway Around Stevenage

The original Stevenage station was opened by the Great Northern Railway (GNR) in 1850 and comprised two island platforms linked by a footbridge.
